The cataplan is a cooking receptacle commonly used in the Algarve. In fact, the same term is also used to describe the food that’s cooked in it. It’s actually a form of metallic panelling comprising two concave sections, which fit together with the help of a hinge and [usually] two latches on the side.Made from Cooper it could be considered the equivalent of the Marrocain Tajine.
