The Portuguese Guitar it’s a composed chordophone with 6 pares of strings. Its origin is remote and directly descended from the Renaissance European Cittern derived in turn from the medieval Citole. There is evidence of its use in Portugal since the thirteen century amongst troubadour and minstrel circles.More recently, in 19th century, it came into fashion as a soloist instrument and in association with the Lisbon song – Fado – accompaniment.The instrument that here we present is of craft construction, in wood of Walnut, with the lid in Tília and the scale in Pau-Santo
